Hi
I did not know about this community.

Jessica is my second favorite after Constantine.

I cannot wait to see her in concert with them this summer.

You beat me to it.

But then again, it's not like I was in a mad rush to create a Jessica Sierra fans community at Livejournal. It took a while for the thought to even occur to me, mostly because I join communities, not create them. But as a deeply passionate fan of Jessica's, I thought it would be a good way to spread her growing support to further reaches; it's nice to see I'm not the only one with that idea.

For the record, it made almost no sense to me at all why she was eliminated so quickly. But I say "almost" because it does make a little bit of sense: Americans tend to gravitate toward whatever happens to constitute 'sexy', and I guess most Americans thought Carrie was sexier, Vonzell, Anthony, etc., even though none of them could even begin to compare to Jessica's vocals and performance. Carrie, for starters (I pick on her because she ultimately won), basically didn't perform at all; she just sort of stood there, tapped her hip occassionally a la Leann Rimes, and did her best to sing on key. I don't know how many times I thought, "Someone go check that girl's pulse!" Her singing sounded forced, strained, and completely unrefined. But hey, she's sexy, right? She looked stunning and gorgeous—clear blue eyes, long blond hair, huge smile—and that's what counts. Right? Even Simon's opinions came from his pants (thankfully he toned that down toward the latter weeks).

And then there's Jessica, who just completely transforms into this whole other person when the lights go up, she hits the stage, and the music starts. Watching her, you can literally see that something comes over her. The change is visible: she is modest and unassuming off-stage, and a dominating performer on-stage, positively electric and fully absorbed in the music. And that voice! Oh my God, that voice. The power, the precision, the range, the depth, and all of it utterly saturated with feeling and palpable sincerity, like she means every word of it and every note. And is there anything she can't sing? From "Against All Odds" to "The Boys Are Back in Town"—and even "Walk This Way"—there is nothing she can't sing.

Have you bought The Showstoppers CD yet? She got to record "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and it is Track 8 on the album. Have you heard it? Have you ever heard anything quite like it, ever? I had a couple of my friends listen to it, friends who didn't quite understand my obsession with Jessica, and they were blown away. Now they understand what I'm talking about. One friend asked rhetorically, "Why didn't she win?" Indeed, good question.

So the tour begins now, and should wrap up around September. Then, Jessica says, it's off to Nashville to continue her singing career. That, to me, hints that someone in Nashville believes in her and signed her to a deal. I guess we'll find out.

Thanks for the community. And I'll do my bit to advertize it when and where I can.

Jess
So let's get this journal started! I was so saddened to see Jess leave the show last week. Jess is such a good singer, im sure we will see her around again soon. I started "The Sierra Club" on the fox message boards, and we all gave Jess tons of support... I guess it just wasnt enough. Why arent there many Jess fans out there???

Current Mood: curious
